A small cattery called Layla Birman is situated in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Birman kittens for sale as pets have always been raised by us. Actually, it's not a cattery with caged cats; it's my house, where I work and live with this exceptionally rare breed of cat. Alice, my first bi-racial kitten, entered my life in 1988. I fell in love at first sight and have since stopped looking. I kept a birman cat as a pet for the following 25+ years after briefly breeding them with Ying-Yang Cattery in Orleans. Cats from Australia, Italy, Russia, and Ukraine have been imported in an effort to diversify the gene pool. Our breeding cats have been DNA genetically tested for PK and PRA so that we may guarantee that our Birman kittens will never be affected by these genetic disorders. Our main goal is to produce healthy kittens that better the breed in both personality and type.

CAN WE VISIT YOUR BIRMAN CATTERY
Yes! Any cattery that prevents you from visiting their breeding facilities, even during COVID, should be avoided.When a kitten is purchased,we extend an invitation to every adoptive family to visit or pick up their rex(after the first FVRCP vaccination, of course). Meeting the new adoptive families is something we enjoy. At one of the numerous ACFA and CFA championship cat shows we attend throughout the year, you are welcome to come say hello to us and our cats.
BIRMAN KITTEN ORIGINThe history of the Birman cat breed is not well known. It is believed to have originated in Burma, but no documentation exists to support this theory. The breed found its way to France and England in the early 1900s, and many of today's Birman cats can trace their origins back to cats from these countries. The Birman cat was eventually brought to the US and formally recognized in 1967. |
